Have you ever done a cookie swap? Let’s talk!
It’s the season for all the baked goods! I always look forward to the yummy treats this time of year! We make fudge and chocolate covered pretzels, puppy chow and peanut butter blossoms. It’s fun to share your goodies with others and one great way to do this is to have a cookie swap!
A co-worker suggested having a cookie swap in our office this year and we all agreed it would be fun to share our favorite recipes with each other! I made my favorite sugar cookie recipe, which you can find here. Everyone brought something different and there were some really delicious choices!
What’s a Cookie Swap?
If you’ve never been part of a cookie swap before, it’s simple!
Here’s what you need:
– The recipe for your favorite crowd-pleasing cookie
– Enough copies of the recipe to share with your group (you can print it off or write it on some cute cards like these!)
– A fun cookie tin or platter to display your cookies on
– Cookie cutters or kitchen towels to go with your recipe handout (optional)
– Designated table for cookies
Cookie Swap Directions:
Get a group of friends and family or co-workers together. Have everyone pick their favorite cookie recipe and bake enough to share with the group. You may want to do a sign-up to make sure several people don’t make the same kind of cookie. Print out or write the recipe on some fun cards and make sure you have one for each participant.
Since I made sugar cookies, I purchased cookie cutters for each person and tied them, along with a cute kitchen towel, to my recipe. This, of course, is optional. I just thought it would be a fun addition! Place your cookies in a cute tin or a pretty seasonal platter to add some flair to the gathering!
Set a time when you’re going to get-together to do the swap. Have a table ready for everyone to set their treat along with the copy of the recipe. You may even choose to decorate it! Each person takes one of every cookie and a copy of the recipe. Some groups select judges to come and sample the cookies and vote on their favorite!
Now it’s time for the best part. Sample all of those delicious cookies!
