Looking for some budget-friendly DIY fall home decor ideas? I’ve got you covered!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Are you hosting? Wanting to incorporate some seasonal touches to your space? It doesn’t have to cost a fortune to add some fall flair to your home! Use these budget-friendly tips for easy fall home decor ideas!

Change Out Pillows and Throws

When we gave our living room a makeover this summer, we chose blue as our main color and yellow as an accent. When September rolled around, I simply switched out the yellow with orange!

I changed out my yellow throw with a burnt orange throw I found at Marshall’s for around $15. I found a set of two matching pillows for around the same price and added them to our sofas.

I found this cute navy buffalo check pillow with “hello fall” in burnt orange that ended up going perfectly with the rest of the fall decor. You can find it here at Kirkland’s!

No matter your color scheme, changing out throws and pillows provide affordable fall home decor ideas to get your space ready for the changing seasons. Stores like HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, and Walmart make it budget-friendly!

Add a Wreath

A wreath is a perfect addition to your front door, in your window, on your wall, and more! And there are so many options! You can purchase one or make your own.

I purchased this magnolia leaf wreath from Hobby Lobby for 40%off! I loved how it had brown leaves mixed in with pinecones.

I also chose to make two of my own fall wreaths. I made a gold hoop wreath for under $10 for our front door and this beaded wreath to hang on my printers tray.

You can find both projects in my new Farmhouse Fall DIY book!

Floral Picks

Floral picks can be added to vases, wood trays, used in centerpieces and more.

I picked up some pumpkin floral picks for ONE DOLLAR at Dollar Tree! I placed two in my milk glass vases displayed on my bookshelves and one on my wood tiered tray. They added so much and I only spent a dollar per pick.

You can also find them at Hobby Lobby and Michael’s for a great price! I used two pumpkin floral picks in my DIY gold hoop wreath and paid around $5.

DIY Thankful Banner

Another project available in my new Farmhouse Fall DIY book, this book page banner cost me nothing! I already had a vintage book and the ribbon. It just took scissors, a marker, and a hole punch, and voila! A beautiful, affordable fall decoration!

You can change the word for the banner to read, “grateful” or “blessed” or “family” or whatever you’d like it to say!

Painted Pumpkins

Places like Dollar Tree have tons of plastic pumpkins for cheap, but they’re not always the prettiest. Make them beautiful with chalk paint (you can purchase small bottles from Hobby Lobby!) and “real” stems (using thick sticks from a tree).

For the step-by-step instructions, you can find this project in my Farmhouse Fall DIY book.

Place the pumpkins on candle holders, in a bowl to display or on a shelf.

Shop End of the Season Sales

Stores begin putting fall decor on clearance in October to get ready for Christmas. It’s a great time to stock up on fall decor for next season. You can usually find it for 50% towards the end of October and even more off in November.

I purchased the “hello fall” sign (pictured above) and this “grateful” sign from Kirkland’s a couple of years ago at the end of the season for a fraction of the original price!

Shop Affordable Real Pumpkins

Real pumpkins add natural beauty to your home decor and if you know where to purchase them, they’re a really budget-friendly way to add fall touches to your home.

This year I bought mine at Trader Joe’s. I chose three orange ones and two tiger-striped ones and for all five pumpkins, I only paid $25. Aldi also offered them for a great deal at around $3 per pumpkin!

They will soon be carved, the insides cooked and used for bread and pie, and the seeds roasted to enjoy, making them worth the small investment!

Pinecones

Pinecones are another affordable fall decoration for your home. They’re great because you can also leave them out for Christmas and winter decor!

You can purchase them for a small price from any craft store or if you’re lucky enough to have a pine tree, just pick them from your yard!

My husband’s great-grandma passed away in January and after the funeral, we stopped at her Missouri farmhouse. Her yard was littered with pinecones and we gathered bagfuls to bring home. It was so special to use them in our fall decor this year.

Rub ‘N Buff

This is my new favorite product! It comes in a small tube in a variety of golds and coppers. I used it to spruce up some tired candleholders and took them from meh to WOW in no time!

I love golds and coppers in my fall AND Christmas decor so I’ll be using this to spruce up some other items. It works on metal, plastic, wood, and more! It goes on thick, dries fast, and covers in 1 – 2 coats. You’ll love it!

I hope these tips were helpful in providing fall decor ideas on a budget for your home! What’s your favorite?
