Hey friend! I hope you’re having a fabulous week! Today I’d like to share with you our budget-friendly farmhouse style entryway!
We were recently asked to host our small group’s Christmas party. If you’re anything like me, that means you go into anal-mode on getting the house ready! One of the projects I wanted to get to was our outdated entry.

Tired and Outdated Entryway
The previous owners painted most of the trim an off-white. But for some reason, they left the bottom four steps alone. The paint was in sad shape and it all just looked like an unfinished mess. The lighting was also really outdated, original brass pendants with etched glass that had seen better days.
We had installed barn doors when we first moved in, but they were a little difficult to open when they were butted together.
On a Budget
Not having a huge budget to work with right now, I started thinking about how we could spruce up the space on a dime. We already had white trim paint and black chalk paint leftover from other projects. I decided to paint the banisters black to match the rest of the black accents in our home. Then I refreshed the spindles with the white trim paint and also painted trim on the bottom four steps.
Affordable Hardware and Lighting
I got on Amazon and found these beautiful black barn door handles for $14.95 each. I purchased one for each door. My hubby drilled the holes and installed them for me. It’s so nice to be married to a handy guy!
These affordable black farmhouse style lights were also an Amazon find. We originally planned on pendant lighting but it was hard to find ones that wouldn’t get hit by the front door when we opened it. We opted for these instead and they gave the space that mixed modern and rustic feel I was wanting.
A Work in Progress
We still have plans for this space like some shiplap, maybe a bench and some decor, but for around $75 we were able to give it a nice little makeover just in time for the holidays!
