Summer finally arrived earlier this month after crazy amounts of rain kept it cool longer than usual. We were glad to see a break in the rain, but this week we’re looking at triple digits nearly every day. Cue this recipe for homemade fresh-squeezed lemonade!

There’s nothing more refreshing than a tall glass of lemonade in the heat of summer!
We found this old-fashioned juicer a few years back during a trip to HomeGoods. If I’m being honest, I bought it more because I loved the color and thought it would look cute on my countertop. Silly, I know.
But we’ve ended up using it a lot! You can find a similar one here or at my Amazon Storefront under Farmhouse Kitchen.
In addition to lemonade, we love to make fresh-squeezed orange juice for breakfast!
The kids love to help us squeeze all the juice out of the fruit. It’s like a contest to see who’s the strongest!
My hubby came up with a delicious recipe for fresh-squeezed lemonade that I’d like to share with you!
Let’s gather the ingredients. You’ll need 5-6 large lemons, 1 cup of sugar, 2 cups of hot water, 1 cup of cold water, and one cup of ice.
Cut each lemon in half. The number you use will depend on how tart you prefer your lemonade. We usually use six.
Using your juicer, squeeze the juice from each half into a bowl.
Pour the juice through a strainer into a pitcher to remove seeds and pulp.
Heat two cups of water in the microwave for 2-3 minutes or until hot. Pour in the sugar and stir until dissolved.
Pour sugar water into the pitcher and stir until combined with the juice. Add one cup of cold water and stir again.
Lastly, add one cup of ice. Garnish with lemon slices if you prefer, then pour and enjoy!
