I cannot believe July 4th is already upon us! This summer is flying by! Today I joined a fun and super talented group of women to share our DIY challenge for this month – stamped books!
Huge thanks to Terrie over at Decorate and More with Tip for hosting this great blog hop! I’ll share mine with you first and then you can check out the rest!
Stamped books have become pretty popular lately in home decor. You can find some really cute sets on Etsy. Or you can make your own!
Books (ones that you don’t mind the cover being changed)
Stamps and pad
Paint and brush (optional)
Decide on what you want your books to say. Some ideas I’ve seen include the names of each family member, a favorite saying like “Home Sweet Home,” or a special date like a birthday or wedding anniversary.
Since we were so close to Independence Day, I decided to make mine look like the American flag.
I purchased a star stamp at Michael’s and just decided to use some paint I already had on hand. But most of the time a stamp pad is used.
Some people rip the covers off and then stamp the spines. I decided to paint them; one red and two blue.
Once they were painted, I stacked them blue, red, blue. Then I brushed white paint onto my star stamp and placed a star on each spine.
To finish it off, I wrapped the stack in jute string several times and then tied a bow!
That’s it! Super easy and fun DIY that will look great displayed on my mantle from Memorial Day to the 4th!
