In my previous post here I talked about Brightpeak’s free “Together” plan designed to help couples get out of debt and plan for their financial future.
Today I’m going to introduce you to their FREE app, Illuminate. Read more about it here! With this app, you can track all of your financial accounts in one place. How cool is that?!
Download and Add Accounts
After downloading the app you can start adding your accounts. You’ll need to know your username and password for each account. We have accounts at two different banks and I was able to link all of our checking and savings accounts. Next, I linked our retirement accounts, mortgage account, car loan and finally our credit card accounts. It syncs every time you open it and now I just go to one app whenever I want to get a picture of how we’re doing. Awesome!
You are able to set up a budget inside the app and since our checking account is linked, the app keeps track of our spending. You can go in and designate different categories such as “groceries,” “entertainment,” “utilities,” etc. to each charge. It tracks this over time so you can see how well
you’re doing at sticking to your budget. You can even split the charges! So say you go to Wal-Mart and spend a total of $35 but $25 was on groceries and $10 was on school supplies–you can designate it that way in the app.
The app keeps track of your net worth and can also give you notifications for things like low balances, large expenses, and payment reminders.
We’ve been using the app for a couple of months now and highly recommend it if you’re looking for an easy way to track your finances and set up your portfolio!
Tried it? Let me know what you think in the comments!
