Vintage Chair makeover on a budget!
I love giving old furniture a fresh look! And it doesn’t have to cost much! I purchased this vintage chair along with the matching desk for $30 from Goodwill about three years ago. The desk got an immediate makeover, but I had yet to do much to the chair.
The finish had worn off and the burlap cover was coming off. It was in desperate need of a makeover! All I needed was some paint and fabric.
Supplies on a Budget
I made a trip to Joann’s Fabric and purchased a can of Rustoleum black satin spray paint along with some upholstery fabric that was already on clearance and then was an additional 50% off! All in all, I paid $14 for the supplies.
I removed the pad from the vintage chair and took the chair outside to spray paint. If you haven’t worked with spray paint a lot, check out my step-by-step tutorial here for the perfect finish!
While it was drying, I cut the fabric to fit the pad. I took my staple gun and began stapling the fabric to the underneath of the pad, tucking the corners as I went around.
Once the chair was dry, I reattached the pad to the chair. Here she is all done! Quite a transformation for only $14 and 30 minutes of time!
I didn’t end up keeping the chair because my hubby’s Grandma gave me another one that worked better with the desk and I didn’t really have a place for this one. So I sold it on Facebook Marketplace and made a little extra cash, which is always nice!
