Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

For the Rolls:

  • 1 stick butter softened
  • 1/3 cup + 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk warmed
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pkg fast rising yeast
  • 4 1/2 cups flour

For the Filling:

  • 1 stick butter melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tsp cinnamon

For the Frosting:

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 stick butter softened
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3-5 cups powdered sugar


  1. Thoroughly mix all roll ingredients in a bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled in size.

  2. For the filling, melt butter and thoroughly mix with sugar and cinnamon. Roll dough out to about 1/2 inch thick and spread filling over the top. Roll into a log and cut into 12 equal parts. Place in greased pan and allow to rise until doubled in size.

  3. Bake rolls in oven at 350 degrees for 15-17 minutes or until center of rolls are no longer doughy and tops are a light golden brown.

  4. Cream together softened cream cheese and butter. Add in vanilla. Gradually beat in powdered sugar until it reaches the preferred consistency.

  5. When rolls have cooled, frost with cream cheese frosting and serve!
